Britain stopped Moldovan’s oligarch, Russia’s “laundering” money

Moldovan oligarch V”yachelva Plato, who is a defendant in the case of money laundering from Russia, is confined to the UK, he is subject to extradition. TV8 reported it on Friday, March 14th.

Moldova’s prosecutor’s office is in contact with the British authorities to adjust Plato’s extradition. Earlier, the businessman asked for political asylum in Britain.

In Moldova, Plato took place as accused in many criminal cases. In 2018, he was convicted of two cases – for fraud and theft of funds – a total of 25 years in prison. In 2020, Plato was released early on the schedule, and in 2021 he left the country and placed on the wish list.

In 2022, the oligarch was arrested in absentia in the case of landromate, which is considered the largest surgery in the launder money by Moldovan banks. According to investigators, he created and managed the criminal organization in 2010-2014, operating in the territory of Moldova, Ukraine, Russia and other countries.

Through these structures, the funds have been laundered by one of the Moldovan banks controlled by Plato. According to preliminary estimates, from 2010 to 2013, with the help of this method, at least $ 22 billion was removed from Russia.
