Tallinn decided to impose national penalties, in particular, against the Kantor, Degtyev and Ismailova in response to their exclusion from the EU penalty list.
Estonia imposed national penalties against Russian citizens, excluding the European Union from the list of penalties at Hungary’s request. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsakhkna, according to European Truth on Friday, March 14th.
The list includes, in particular, businessman Vyacheslav Moshe Kantor, Russian Federation Minister Mikhail DeGtaatev and billionaire brother Alisher Usmanov Gulbakhor Ismailov. According to Tsakhkna, this step is a prevailing proposal to maintain restrictions for the people on the list of penalties earlier.
The EU’s decision to exclude these people from the list of penalties became complicated when restrictions against 2400 people involved in Russian invasion. Hungary insists on excluding many people in exchange for supporting the expansion of penalties for others.
Estonia continues to comply with a strict punishment policy against the citizens of the Russian Federation involved in the financing and support of the war against Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Hungary requested the removal of Russian penalties related to eight people in exchange for blocking the next expansion of penalties.
