The support fund of Ukraine wants to be created in the European Union.
The EU proposes to create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine. The Blok countries “are recommended to provide military support in Ukraine in 2025 in the amount of at least 20 billion euros and potentially bring it to 40 billion euros, depending on the needs of Ukraine.” This was announced by Euraactiv, who reads the corresponding document.
The first step provides that the leaders of the countries should agree on the distribution of 5 billion euros on the purchase of 2 million units of large artillery ammunition.
The plan states that each EU country will participate in accordance with its economic weight. The contribution to the fund can be made with money or in kind.
Purchases for artillery, air defense systems, missiles, drones, combat aircraft and other support for Ukrainian brigades will become a priority for the purchase.
It is noted that the creation of the fund is planned to be discussed next week. Brussels believes that the creation of this fund is necessary to avoid a veto from Hungary.
We recall that in early March it became known that the new package of military assistance to Ukraine from the European Union was at risk, because it is strongly against Hungary. Thus, the development of a military assistance plan in Ukraine for 20 billion euros was suspended.
