Putin’s agreements with Lukashenko allow Russia to create military bases and infrastructure in Belarus.
Russia plans to strengthen military presence in NATO’s eastern flank. For this, the Russian Federation will probably place its military bases in Belarus. This is stated in the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
It was noted that on March 13, Russian presidents Vladimir Putin and Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met in Moscow and approved a bilateral agreement on security guarantees between the states. The document allows Russia to create military bases and infrastructure in Belarus.
According to the results of the meeting, Putin said the security guarantee agreement refers to different allied obligations by Russia and Belarus to ensure defense and security using the “full existing arsenal of forces and means.”
Putin also noted that Russia has launched a United Regional Group of Troops, Modern Russian Defense Systems and Tactical Nuclear Weapons in the Belarusian territory. According to him, all of this is “trusted” in the borders of the western Belarus and the Russian Federation.
“In 2021, the ISW predicted that Russia could deploy a constant military presence in Belarus to strengthen the threat of NATO Eastern Flank. The institution continues to evaluate that Kremlin uses the Union State Structure to promote its strategic efforts in combining the facto of this country,” the report said.
Remember, as stated in an updated assessment of the threat from Russia from Denmark’s main director of Denmark, Russia will be ready for a new invasion after the end of the Ukraine war in six months, if the alliance in the North Atlantic will not be re -equipped with the Russian Federation.
