After the Trump election, the proportion of Russians poorly associated with America dropped from 73 to 51%, and well increased from 17 to 30%.
According to a Levada Center survey, 58% of Russians are promoting the rapprochement of the Russian Federation along with western countries, which supports economic, political and cultural expansion. Only 26% of respondents are considered necessary to reduce such contacts, and the rest is not decided on the answer. The Moscow Times reported it.
These results indicate the desire of most Russian citizens to improve relationships with western states, despite the current geopolitical situation.
It was noted that the Russian attitude toward the United States was noticeably improved against the background of negotiations at the end of the war.
Trump personally has an important role in it. After his election, part of the Russians who were poorly associated with America dropped from 73 to 51%, and those well increased from 17 to 30%. If the Russians didn’t like Joe Bayden (79% was bad or bad), then Trump instead of it – 43% was “mostly good” and 8% “very well” – even if they didn’t know what to expect from him: 31% could not determine the attitude to Trump.
Such an understanding of Trump is primarily related to hoping for the end of the war and attempts to promote relationships with Russia.
Respondents also announced the hope that after the end of the war against Ukraine, the West’s relationship would gradually return to the level, before the invasion. Thus, 50% of respondents believe that the situation is normalizing, while 32% expects further exacerbation of tension and a possible new stage in the Cold War.
Remember that Russians generally believe that penalties do not harm their country or themselves. So most of the Respondents of the Levada Center think – 86% of the total number of respondents.
Part of the supporters of peace negotiations have grown in the Russian Federation – a survey
