The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine responded to the decision of ECTHR about the events in Odessa on May 2, 2014.
The Ministry of Justice takes into account this and promises subsequently to provide a comprehensive analysis of the conclusions of the European Court.
The tragedy in Odessa occurred three months after the revolution of dignity, when the country still retained the institutional heritage of Yanukovych in its structures, especially in the law enforcement system. The disadvantages in the actions of the police and the fire service, defined by the ECHR, demonstrate the systemic problems that have been formed for many years after the previous government, ”the Ministry of Justice added.
The perspective wrote that on May 2, 2014, the European Court of Human Rights decided on the riots in Odessa, as a result of which 48 people were killed. According to the court’s decision, Ukraine must pay compensation.
In its conclusions, the court emphasized that Russia and its anti -Cocial propaganda played an important role in these events. The court also noted that many Odessa officials responsible for violations from Ukraine soon fled to the Russian Federation and received Russian citizenship.
