The military who refused to fight were taken in groups of eight to ten people to the military commander’s office, where they were imprisoned in a garage for three or four days.

Seven Russian occupiers from Buryatia said they began to be intimidated by the command when they wrote reports refusing to fight in Ukraine, Mediazona reports, according to audio recordings provided by the head of the Free Buryatia Foundation Alexandra Garmazhapova.

All military served in the 11th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade (military unit No. 32364 assigned to Ulan-Ude). They wrote letters of resignation after several months of participation in the war. The order threatened those who refused to protest that they would be detained and then sent to an “assault detachment near Lugansk,” said one of the contractors.

According to him, the military, who refused to fight, was taken in groups of eight to ten people to the office of the military commander, where they were detained in a garage for three or four days. At this time, people are fed once a day. They were then sent to a pre-trial detention center near Lugansk.

On July 16, one of the refuseniks, corporal Ilya Kaminsky, told the Current Time television channel that he also knew about the garage where the military was detained. According to him, he learned about it from a colleague who saw how ten servicemen of the 11th brigade were placed in the garage for refusing to serve.

The military was forced to write explanations that they wanted to continue conducting military operations. The command did not sign and even tore up the dismissal reports. Corporal Ilya Kaminsky claims he wrote about 20 reports, but none of them were considered. At the end of April, she filed her first leave report because she had a baby. After that, he filed several more reports, the latter about refusing to participate in the war.

Recall, according to British military estimates, Russia has lost more than 30% of potential offensive ground forces, giving “absolute confidence” to the Ukrainian armed forces that they will win the war.
