Ukrainian refugees in the United States can lose their legal status.
The US presidential administration Donald Trump plans to cancel the temporary legal status for about 240,000 Ukrainian citizens who went after a full war. This decision can lead to an accelerated deportation of Ukrainians in April. This was reported by Reuters with reference and a high -ranking White House official and three more sources.
It is noted that the plan of deprivation of Ukrainians of defense arose before the leader of America quarreled with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the White House. This plan is simply part of the wider efforts of the Trump administration to deprive the legal status of more than 1.8 million migrants. These people were previously in the States as part of temporary programs that were introduced by the administration of former President Joe Biden.
Reuters writes that the White House and the Embassy of Ukraine did not respond to their requests.
Recall that the United States of America suspended the humanitarian program for Ukraine (U4U), which allowed Ukrainian citizens to receive asylum in the United States for up to two years.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed a decree “Protection of our borders”, where he instructed the Minister of Internal Security to reflect asylum programs for people who arrive in the states and stop the programs of asylum, which contradict the country’s policy.
