Moldova President Maya Sandu did not accept the credentials of Russian ambassador Oleg Ozerov, who was appointed in September 2024. Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was called Moldovan’s Ministry of Liliana Darius on March 5 and gave him a note with a request to clarify the “Causes Convention on diplomatic relations.
Maya Sandu said in February 2025 that the letters of the charity were not accepted because of the “statements” by Russian officials.
“The representative (Russia, Ed.) Was not invited to present a loyal letter due to the fact that officials in Moscow were acting with clear Moldova statements.
Sandu added that the administration of the president of Moldova will later decide when to invite the ambassador.
Oleg Ozerov has been in Chisinau since October 2024. Prior to the presentation of the credentials, the diplomatic representative was not considered official to continue to fulfill his duties.
Keep in mind that Moldova Minhai Popshay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said the accreditation of Russia’s new ambassador was delayed due to Kremlin’s unfriendly rhetoric.
