The new military assistance package in Ukraine from the European Union was at risk.
Earlier, the EU has already allocated 60 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine in 2025, and this money is not respondent. Nevertheless, the military assistance plan for Ukraine for 20 billion euros is currently suspended. Hungary in the person of Prime Minister Viktor Orban is strongly against. This was reported by Politico.
It is noted that on March 4, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der -Derren must present his instruments to increase the costs of the European Union for defense. However, a new package of military funding was excluded from the last project of the EU Council, which was proposed by the head of the EU diplomacy Kai Callas.
The change occurred after Hungary imposed a veto on the previous version of the document. Budapest supports the strengthening of the EU military authorities, but decisively opposes the provision of new military assistance to Ukraine.
Politico writes that the head of the European Commission Ursula von der -il, probably, can offer more creative ways to force countries to support Ukraine. One of the options is the requirement that 20% of credit costs allocated for defense expenses are sent to help Ukraine.
It should be recalled that the media reported that at the meeting of the ambassadors of the European Union they blocked the draft text regarding Ukraine, which contained the wording of security guarantees. There was also a new package of military aid.
