In Baltic, a cable cable between Sweden and Latvia is restored

The Latvian company LVRTC has completed the restoration of an underwater fiber -optic cable damaged in the Baltic Sea. The cable connection work ended on February 28. LSM.LV.

Cable damage occurred on January 26 in Sweden’s economic water, approximately 130 km from Latvia.

Work repair lasted for more than 30 hours, as it is necessary not only to restore the fibers, but also to ensure tightness and protection of the cable against possible physical injury.

Now the task will continue to lower the cable under the sea, planned to complete in the near future, as weather conditions allow you to do so.

The company noted that thanks to pre -Prepared security measures during the incident, users do not feel related failures.

The LVRTC plans to start the payment process for damage with the help of Vezhen, which may have led to the accident. At the same time, the investigation is currently ongoing, and the criminal case qualifies under several articles of the Criminal Code.

Damage to underwater cables in the Baltic Sea became part of a number of incidents with regional infrastructure, causing fear about the safety of NATO’s critical objects.
