In the United States put up for auction a watch owned by Adolf Hitler. They plan to sell for nearly four million dollars. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Auction house owner Bill Panagopoulos wants to get from two to four million dollars for the lot. According to him, this matter has historical significance.
The accessory is made by Swiss luxury watchmaker LeCoultre. The gold case of the product is decorated with symbols of the Third Reich, engraved in the form of the politician’s initials and three significant dates for him: birth, appointment as Chancellor of Germany and the victory of the Nazi party in elections.
It is believed that the accessory was presented to Hitler by members of the Nazi Party in 1933, and on May 4, 1945, a few days before the Fuhrer’s suicide, the watch was stolen by a French soldier during an attack on a habitat in the Bavarian Alps.
Returning from the war, the soldier stole the watch. sold them to a relative who passed them on to his descendants. In 2019, the great-grandson of a relative contacted the auction house and offered to buy them.
The item was displayed at Alexander Historical Auctions in the US state of Maryland. Previously, the watch was never put up for public sale.
