In six front -lined regions, almost a third of the population suffers from a lack of food, the UN report said.
Nearly five million Ukrainians suffer from food shortages, the greatest demand is observed in areas near the front. This is stated in the release of the UN World Food Program (WFP).
It is mentioned that millions of people refused themselves to eat to feed the children, or get a loan to buy the necessary family products.
It is reported that more than half of the inhabitants of the Kherson region suffer from the acute lack of food products, and in the regions of zaporizhzhya and Donetsk two out of every five people suffer from hunger.
According to WFP director at Ukraine Richard Ragan, “Families in front -lined areas are hardly ending, forced to make a painful choice to survive.”
According to WFP tracking data, 72% of food help is forced to save food, buy fewer nutrient products, skip food or borrow money to feed the family.
“In six front -line regions, almost a third of the population suffers from a lack of food,” the UN report said.
In WFP they added that “no matter where the stores work and have the necessary goods to them, many families are unable to eat. Last year, prices of major products increased by 25 percent, and the cost of some vegetables doubled. “
Remember, according to the UN, in 2024 the number of civilians, killed or injured due to the war in Ukraine increased by 30% compared to last year.
