The American delegation includes head of state department Marco Rubio, the special US representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and the president’s advisor to Mike Waltz. The Russian delegation was led by foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. Also at the meeting there is Yuri Ushakov, advisor to Vladimir Putin on international issues.
The day before, Uhakov said the main purpose of the meeting was the “true normalization of relationships” between Russia and the USA. According to the Kremlin, the meeting discussed the possibility of upcoming negotiations by Putin and Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia.
Temmi Bruce Department of State Department said that the United States during the talks with Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia wanted to know the Kremlin’s intent, and the details of a peace agreement would not be discussed.
Meanwhile, Ukraine president Vladimir Zelensky also plans to visit Saudi Arabia, but said he was not early in the United States and Russian negotiations and could not participate with them. According to him, Ukraine will not recognize any agreements about our state.
