Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, is convinced that now the time has come to create the United Armed Forces of Europe.
He announced this today, February 15, during a speech at the Munich Security Conference, reports Ukrinform.
I believe in Europe. And you must believe. And I urge you to act – for the sake of Europe, for Europe, for the sake of the peoples of Europe, your nations, your houses, your children and our common future, ”he said. – To do this, Europe should become self -sufficient – a common general force, Ukrainian and European.
Zelensky emphasized that now the Ukrainian army, with the support of world assistance, restrains Russia:
But if not, then who will stop them? Let’s be honest – now we cannot exclude the possibility that America will say no to Europe in matters that threaten this. Many leaders said that Europe needs its own armed forces – the army of Europe. I think this time came. The Armed Forces of Europe must be created.
According to Zelensky, “this is no more complicated than adamant for Russian attacks, like us.”
At the same time, he noted that the thing “not only in increasing the cost of defense as a share of GDP” primarily refers to people’s awareness of the need to protect their home:
Money is definitely necessary, but by themselves they will not remain an enemy of the offensive.
Zelensky emphasized that without the Ukrainian army, “the army of Europe will not be able to stop Russia”:
Only our army in Europe has a real modern combat experience. But our army is also not enough. We need what you can provide: weapons, training, sanctions, financing, political pressure and unity.
He added that three years of a full -fledged war has been proved: “There is already a basis for the creation of unified European armed forces”:
And now, when we are waging this war and laying the foundation for peace and security, we must build the Armed Forces of Europe. In order for the future of Europe to depend only on Europeans and decisions about Europe that will be adopted in Europe.
