But Vilnius cannot make such a decision unilaterally, according to Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said the issue of a ban on travel to Kaliningrad through Lithuanian territory was being discussed. Delphi reports.

But, according to Simonyte, Vilnius could not have made such a decision unilaterally.

“Facilitated transit is not just our decision, it is a trilateral agreement: not only in Lithuania, where the country may have very strong or less strong opinions, it is an EU obligation. However, we cannot ignore the views of the European Union as a civilized community on how to resolve this issue, ”the prime minister said.

Simonyte believes it is inappropriate to introduce all restrictions at once, even though Russia does not comply with international obligations.

“There are calls: do it, the reaction is different. If we reacted on February 25 to everything we are doing now, we don’t know what we will do now if there are no further steps to raise the price of this war. for the Kremlin, ” – added the Prime Minister of Lithuania.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that possible “adventures of European countries” aimed at blocking Kaliningrad were playing with fire.

Recall that the US authorities announced the introduction of full blocking sanctions against Russia’s largest bank Sberbank and the country’s largest private bank – Alfa -Bank. Sanctions were also imposed against representatives of Russia’s elite. Earlier this week, the United States pledged new sanctions against Russia for the atrocities of the occupiers in the city of Bucha near Kiev.
