In the Russian Federation, most residents support the war against Ukraine and believe in success. At the same time, more than half the peace negotiations of peace in participating in the intermediary. Such data follows from the survey results of an independent Levada center.
It was noted that in January 2025 they approved the aggression – 78% of the inhabitants of the Russian Federation. 15% of respondents do not support war. Also in January 2025, the maximum part of the respondents was recorded, believing that peace negotiations should begin at present – 61%, at the same time 31% of respondents spoke about the need to continue military operations (minimal indicators at all time observation).
Previous polls indicate that 70% of respondents approve the immediate end of the war, however, while maintaining the captured Ukraine territories. In the case of leaving the territories covered, only 30% of the respondents supported the end of the war.
Since November 2023, part of the respondents has grown, believing that the participation of mediators in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will facilitate the achievement of a peace agreement – up to 67% (an increase of 23 points percentage). Only 13% of respondents speak the opposite, another 20% of respondents are difficult to answer.
23% of respondents as mediators in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are called China, 20% – the USA. Another 8% mentioned Turkey, 6% – Hungary and India. It is difficult to name a single country with 28%of respondents (difficult to answer – 21%, no country – 7%).
Last year, part of those who believe that the war in Ukraine will end in the coming year or earlier, now 43% of respondents will end in Ukraine. Each third interview (32%) believes the conflict will last more than a year.

The survey was conducted from January 23 to January 29, 2025 to 1615 people through personal interview.
Remember that most Ukrainians (57%) agree that any peace agreement that will not restore the entire integrity of Ukraine’s territory is at risk of failure.
