“Hungary’s position is clear: we do not want to discuss the issue of a gas embargo … We rely on Russian gas for our activities, so it is clear that we cannot support such decisions,” he said. Szijjártó at a press conference after meeting with his colleagues from four states of Central Europe – Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia.
He said that one of the representatives of the European Union had taken the initiative to impose sanctions against Gazprombank, which passed payments for Russia’s gas supplies to Europe.
“We have strongly indicated that we cannot support any list of sanctions that could include Gazprom or Gazprombank, as such a decision clearly implies an immediate cessation of gas supplies,” the Foreign Minister added.
