US President Donald Trump intends to reduce USAID from 10,000 to 300 people.
About this writes “New York Times” with reference to sources.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio presented a list of about 600 employees who are considered necessary all over the world, but ultimately less than 300, NPR reports.
According to CNN sources, only 294 key employees will remain from midnight on Friday. Access to the working systems for other employees, including e -mail, will be stopped.
Reuters writes that 12 employees will leave the African bureau and eight in Asia. Some employees have already begun to receive a dismissal report.
The USAID website says that from February 7, “all USAID employees working on direct hiring will be sent on administrative leave around the world, with the exception of employees responsible for critical functions, main management and specially developed programs.”
The US President has already frozen the agency’s funds in January in anticipation of an internal audit, which influenced a large number of initiatives around the world. USAID is one of the largest assistance agencies in the world and is responsible for most of the humanitarian assistance of the US government for developing countries and countries in crisis situations.
