Usually, residents of capital regions – Moscow and St. Petersburg is traveling to PRC. However, a significant number of Russians moved from Siberia and the Far East.
Russian entrepreneurs, qualified specialists, engineers, doctors and teachers in recent years have been more likely to move to a permanent home in China. The transfer is associated with higher salaries and the best economic prospects. This is stated in a sociological study of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rossmi reports.
It is noted that in most cases, residents of the capital regions – Moscow and St. Petersburg is traveling to PRC. However, a significant number of Russians also moved from Siberia and the Far East, especially, from the territory of Trans -Baikal, Buryatia, Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territory. Researchers provide statistics, according to which nearly 11 thousand Russians move year -to the PRC.
In 2020, more than 16 thousand Russians lived in China on a ongoing basis, the population census showed. Today, however, according to experts, the real Russian number in the PRC can be from 40 to 50 thousand people.
Russians permanently resident of the PRC give preference to large cities with large labor markets. So, nearly 10 thousand people live in Beijing, 5-6 thousand-in Shanghai, 2-3 thousand each in Harbin, Guangzhou, Urumche, Hong Kong and Macau.
In addition to entrepreneurs and highly qualified specialists, students and pensioners go to China. The latter is often sent to “winter” – for seasonal residence in China of different durations. But sometimes it goes into the constant form of move. Pensioners come to China mainly from the regions of Siberia and the Far East.
Remember that the Russian transition to Israel reached a record indicator. The number of Russians who moved to Israel under the Jewish population recovery program has reached 95 thousand people since the beginning of 2022.
As reported, the Federal State Statistics Service in the Russian Federation (Rosstat) has stopped publishing monthly statistics in the country’s transition situation. In the last January Report of September 2024, Rosstat reduced the demographic section on a page, immigration information was only shown in explanatory methods.
