Ukraine will soon consult with the United States to restore financing of humanitarian projects under the auspices of USAID.
The stop of financing under the auspices of the US agency for international development is “unexpected and unpleasant news” for both the Ukrainian authorities and the public sector. And the pause for 90 days from the key donor “cannot be confused.” Deputy Head of the Presidential Cabinet Irina Veroshchuk reported this on Telegram.
However, as the official wrote, the Ukrainian authorities will be able to stabilize the situation in the humanitarian direction. Firstly, Bankova plans to start “subject advice” with the United States in the near future in order to continue financing of humanitarian response projects.
According to Verushchuk, while we stabilize the situation, we must save people and work outside the design teams.
And President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he instructed officials to report on US support programs, which were currently suspended. According to him, the official finds out which programs are now in a shortage: almost all of them went not through the Ukrainian government, but directly through communities and various organizations.
We recall that on January 20, US President Donald Trump signed the suspension of the decision of all US external assistance programs for 90 days before checking to determine whether they correspond to its political goals. The decree does not apply to military assistance to Ukraine.
And on January 27 it became known that the USAID Federal Government suspended financing all programs and projects without exception after the State Department for the audit within 90 days.
