Less than a third of Russians want to end the fighting in Ukraine, while 57% believe they should continue.
About 30% of Russians believe that the war in Ukraine should stop now. This was confirmed by the results of a closed poll conducted at the end of June by order of the Kremlin, which is at the disposal of the publication Meduza.
Respondents were asked: “Some say that the fighting in Ukraine should stop as soon as possible. Others believe that the fighting should not stop now. Which perspective do you prefer – the first or the second?”
Subsequently from the results of the survey 30% of those who took part in the survey believe that the fighting in Ukraine should “stop as soon as possible.”
Another 13% had difficulty answering; 57% of respondents believe the war should continue.
According to the results of the same survey, in the age group of 18-24 years, 56% are in favor of ending the war, and only 19% are in favor of continuing.
Of Russians aged 25-34, 43% support the end of the war, 41% support the resumption of hostilities.
In general, the older the respondents, the more they support the war. For example, among respondents over 60 years of age, 72% of respondents were in favor of continuing aggression.
In Moscow and St. Petersburg, judging by the data of a closed poll, approximately 40% of respondents want a cessation of hostilities, and 48% are in favor of their resumption. Most (62%) supporters of the resumption of hostilities – in other cities of Russia with a million inhabitants.
Also, at the request of the Kremlin, the prospect of support for the continuation of the war and media consumption was studied. Of the “active Internet users,” 47% of respondents were in favor of ending the conflict, and 35% were in favor of their continuation. But among TV audiences, only 22% support ending the military conflict, and 68% of such respondents are in favor of its continuation.
VTsIOM does not explicitly publish this poll data.
Recall that at the end of May, the results of the survey showed that in the Russian Federation they were losing interest in what was happening in Ukraine.
