The Russian Foreign Ministry said that a possible future rejection of Europe from Russian gas also means the end of transit through Ukraine, depriving Kyiv of revenue from it.
Extending gas transit through Ukraine after 2024 will be possible if demand in Europe continues and the Ukrainian GTS continues to operate. RIA-Novosti reports in connection with the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Europe’s possible future decline from Russian gas also means the end of transit through Ukraine with Kyiv’s deprivation of revenue from it,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier it was reported that in June, the volume of gas transit through the Ukrainian GTS reached a historic low since 1991 and reached only 1.25 billion cubic meters.
Recall that Russia resumed gas supplies through the Turkish Stream.
