The Defense Acquisition Agency has announced pressure on its supervisory board.
On Thursday, January 23, the AOP supervisory commission entered into an agreement to extend the contract with the current director Maria Bezrukova. The corresponding decision was made unanimously. And yesterday the Minister of Defense announced that he would not continue this contract. This is stated in the agency’s statement on its Facebook page.
This indicates that the head of the memorandum stated that the ACO will be managed by Arsen Zhumadilov, who is currently the director of the state-owned operator. The minister also announced the withdrawal of state representatives from the oversight side.
However, the agency refuses to confirm the change in leadership announced by Umerov. The announcement of a new leader at AOP is considered “a direct manifestation of pressure on oversight and an attempt to replace independent corporate governance with a manual regime.”
AOP continues to operate under the leadership of Bezrukova because the powers to expand or violate the director’s contract rest solely with the supervisory board. And this complies with both the law of Ukraine and the latest version of the agency’s Charter. As of today, the AOP’s oversight board is in effect, even despite the minister’s announcement to recall two state representatives who demonstrated an independent position, the statement said.
We would like to remind you that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rastim Umerov, announced the decision to appoint Arsen Zhumadilov as head of the Defense Procurement Agency. The head of the memorandum emphasized that the current management of the agency has not coped with the tasks assigned to it, so Marina Bezrukov and her deputy Dmitry Klimenkova are planning.
