President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Moldova President Maya Sandu after negotiations in Kyiv made a joint statement.
The heads of state, in particular, decisively condemned the intentional termination of the Russian Federation of gas supply to the Tramirsian region of Moldova, which caused a humanitarian crisis. Both leaders have confirmed their commitment and the ability to provide urgent and specific solutions to satisfy the energy needs of the residents of the fake Transnistria, to prevent further escalation of the crisis and restore basic services. On January 25, the press service of the presidential office announced.
Moldova passes through a completely artificial energy crisis created by Moscow for the negative impact on the independence of Moldova, on the result of the parliamentary elections in Moldova. This is the classic scheme of Moscow. They create problems with normal democratic power in the country to bring their agents to power. And we have repeatedly seen it in Ukraine. We saw this in other European countries, ”said the Ukrainian head of state.
Zelensky and Sandu also confirmed the mutual definition to strengthen practical cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova in all areas of mutual interest. This obligation covers the strengthening of economic relations, promoting cultural exchange and interaction in overcoming joint security tasks.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine can provide coal for Moldova, including supplying it to unrecognized Transnistria for electricity. According to him, the Moldovan Dre can produce 10 times more electricity – from 220 megavatts to 2 gigavatts. The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is ready to send its people to Transnistria.
If our people go there, it will be able to release 2 GIGA. That is 10 times more or more than necessary. If we give them coal at a low price or even free, we can get electricity. This is true: we give coal, they receive electricity for ourselves, for all Moldova we get electricity for ourselves, ”he said.
According to the president, thanks to the export of Ukrainian coal, you can reduce the price of electricity throughout Moldova by 30.
We will recall that from January 1, Gazprom stopped the supply of Russian gas to Moldova and Transneresh. This happened, in particular, from the cessation of gas transit from the Russian Federation through Ukraine.
After the supply of supply, the unrecognized Transnistria was left without heating and hot water. The lack of electricity also led to the closure. Industrial enterprises have stopped, the winter holidays continued in schools.
