The Cabinet of Ministers today, January 24, of Ukraine adopted a resolution that defines the activities of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine, and also regulates the powers and areas of competence.
This document also approved the abbreviated name of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine – the Ministry of National Unity. The press service of the ministry reports this.
The resolution defines the main powers of the Ministry of Nationalities:
- ensuring the formation and implementation of state policy on issues of national unity of Ukraine and joint development, Ukrainian national identity, information policy of the unity of Ukraine and strategic communications (regarding powers for the national unity of Ukraine);
- formation and implementation of state policy on ensuring the rights and interests of persons who have traveled abroad, as determined by the legislation of Ukraine, in particular as a result of an armed conflict. As well as creating conditions for their voluntary return to an abandoned place of residence or integration at a new place of residence in Ukraine;
- assistance, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in meeting the national, cultural, educational and linguistic needs of persons who have traveled abroad;
- promoting the establishment of Ukrainian national identity and civic identity.
In addition, the government approved the creation of the National Unity Agency, a key structure that will help implement initiatives for interaction with the Ukrainian community and public organizations in host countries, the department noted. — Let us note that the agency will work in the management of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
On December 3, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to rename the Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine into the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
