The Kursk Garrison Military Court announced the first verdict in Russia against a Russian military man in a looting case.
According to Mediazona, serviceman Stanislav Lopatin was found guilty of looting. It is unknown how long Lopatin was sentenced to.
Lopatin’s case came to court in November 2024. He was sentenced on January 15.
Residents of border areas who had to leave their homes due to the fighting spoke about the looting of the Russian military during the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
Subsequently, journalists noticed the verdict against Nikita Sobolev, who was found guilty of large-scale looting.
As in the case of Lopatin, it is not known what sentence Sobolev received. The punishment under this article ranges from three to 12 years in prison.
