The Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Druz, who is suspected of illegal enrichment of more than $1 million.
The court approved the prosecutors’ request for detention for 60 days (until March 20) with a bail of UAH 49 million, reports the publication Public.
In the future, Druz will be kept in custody in a medical facility to improve his health.
It is noted that Druz’s lawyers argued that his detention was illegal.
According to the lawyer, Friends was discharged from the intensive care unit yesterday. The lawyers asked for a preventive measure that does not include detention. If the amount of bail was determined, they were asked to calculate it based on the capabilities of Druz and his family, the publication notes.
Before the start of the hearing, the lawyer in the case reported that the suspect was “in extremely serious condition in an ambulance “under IVs.” Friends were present at the hearing, and doctors were also in the courtroom.
After the court decision was announced, Druz declined to comment.
