The Israeli Foreign Ministry offered to transfer to Ukraine Russian weapons that the IDF captured in Lebanon.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Sharren Haskel.
During the meeting, the ambassador thanked his interlocutor for her proposal to transfer to Ukraine Russian-made weapons captured by the IDF in Lebanon or somewhere from Israel’s enemies.
It was noted that this initiative is an important step in recognizing the common threats faced by both countries. The Ukrainian side expressed hope for a positive resolution of this issue, the statement said.
In October 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro, reported that IDF soldiers had discovered “the most modern” Russian weapons during searches at Hezbollah bases in southern Lebanon.
In November, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the Israeli military continues to find large stockpiles of Russian weapons from Hezbollah. According to the publication, the weapons could have gotten there from Syria, which was equipped by Russia.
The fact that Israel discovered large stockpiles of Russian weapons in Hezbollah was reported in the WSJ. As Israeli troops advanced into southern Lebanon, significant arsenals of Russian weapons were discovered.
Among the weapons found were modern Kornet anti-tank missiles manufactured in 2020. The weapons were reportedly transferred to Hezbollah in recent years from Russian arsenals in Syria.
