A fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort in Turkey killed 66 people and injured 51 people.
The firefighting efforts were reportedly complicated by the fact that the hotel is located in a mountainous area and it was difficult for firefighters to reach it, Daily Sabah writes.
I heard people screaming for help from the windows. We brought ropes, pillows and blankets. Before firefighters arrived, two women jumped from the upper floors, an employee of the nearby hotel Barış Salgür told reporters.
The fire started on the night of January 21 on the fourth floor of the 11-story hotel. More than 200 rescuers took part in extinguishing the fire.
The head of Bolu province, Abdulaziz Aydin, said that the cause of the fire has not yet been established. According to him, the outbreak began on the floor where the restaurant is located. There were 234 guests in the hotel at the time of the incident. How many staff there were in the hotel was not specified.
