US President Joe Biden, a few hours before the end of his term, decided to pardon a number of officials.
The errors were received by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Mill, Dr. Anton Fouch, members and staff of the commission that investigated the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, as well as members of the US Capitol Police and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police who testified before that commission. NBC News reported this.
Biden believes that these officials could face prosecution by the new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. However, he stressed that the pardon should not be misinterpreted as an admission that these people committed an offense.
These public servants have served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be subjected to unjustified and politically motivated persecution,” he said.
It is noted that such a step by Biden is unprecedented because he pardoned those who had not even been investigated.
Let us remember that in December last year, US President Joe Biden pardoned his son Gunter Biden, who was facing sentencing for crimes related to illegal weapons trafficking and tax evasion. The official pardon cannot be revoked by President-elect Donald Trump.
