The new speaker of the Lithuanian parliament came to Kyiv for the first time after his election. He said that he understood peace as the complete liberation of Ukrainian territories and the punishment of the dictator for war crimes.
The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, on Monday, January 20, met with the delegation of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania, led by Speaker Saulius Skvernelis. The parties discussed support for Ukraine, the preparation of a new EU sanctions package, strengthening military-technical cooperation and joint projects in the defense industry, reports the press service of the President of Ukraine.

During the conversation, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian side for its support since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s large-scale military offensive against Ukraine.
According to the Office of the President, during the meeting, Zelensky and the Lithuanian delegation discussed:

continued support for Ukraine,

preparation of the new EU sanctions package,

strengthening military-technical cooperation,

general defense industry projects.
Separately, Zelensky also mentioned Lithuania’s leadership in advocating for Ukraine towards the European Union and NATO.
In this regard, Skvernelis emphasized during the talks that Lithuania and its parliament are ready to continue providing defense and humanitarian support to Ukraine, as well as the rehabilitation of military media, and restoring the infrastructure that was destroyed and broken as a result of Russia’s shelling.
“We understand peace as the complete liberation of Ukrainian territories, including Crimea, punishing the dictator for war crimes, bringing him to legal and financial responsibility, and Ukraine’s full membership in NATO and the EU,” said the Lithuanian spokesman.
