The president of Iran arrived at the Kremlin on time, but due to Putin’s tardiness, he decided to leave the place and return after a few hours.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian refused to expect Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow on January 17. Iran International reported this.

Pezeshkian and the delegation arrived at the Kremlin on time, but he was informed that Putin was not ready for the meeting. The Iranian leader decided to go to a hotel instead of waiting in the waiting room. He then returned to the Kremlin for negotiations, which were delayed for about an hour.

During the visit, a strategic partnership agreement was signed between Iran and Russia. The agreement provides for enhanced defense and security cooperation, but contains no military obligations. In this context, Putin emphasized the difference between the document and the agreement between Russia and North Korea, which provides for military obligations.

Putin’s lateness to important meetings has become a habit. Notable cases include delays in meetings with Angela Merkel and other world leaders, which often caused plans to be postponed or changed for their interlocutors.

Let’s recall that Russia and Iran concluded a new bilateral cooperation agreement, called the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement.

Earlier, the media reported that Iran refused to recognize Crimea as Russian, as well as other Ukrainian territories in the new partnership agreement.
