The Russian propaganda Telegram channel Mash writes that the air defense system worked against Ukrainian drones trying to attack a helicopter plant in Kazan.
Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched replicas of the Turkish “Bayraktar” — UAVs of the “February” type, which they had already used to attack Tatarstan — across the city, the report says.
It is noted that there were three waves of attack, in some areas the siren was turned on. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the downing of 31 drones. The Ukrainian side did not comment on this information.
Locals reported that the sounds of explosions thundered in the Aircraft Building, Moskovsky, Kirov and Novo-Savinsky districts, and alarm sirens were working at plant 22. Local public pages write that UAVs attacked the Kazan Aviation Plant named after Gorbunov.
Subsequently, a second wave of UAV attacks became known. Previously, drones attacked aircraft and helicopter factories in Kazan.
Explosions were also reported in the area of BorisoGlebskoye airport.
Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov – a branch of PJSC Tupolev – one of the largest enterprises in the aviation industry of the Russian Federation, founded in 1932 in the city of Kazan, produces Tu-160 strategic bombers, as well as Tu-204 civilian airliners. It is located in the eastern part of the Aircraft Manufacturing District of Kazan, and the Borisoglebskoye factory airfield is also located within the city limits.
