24-year-old Belarusian volunteer Maria Zaitseva died in Ukraine.
Many remember Maria for the photo taken on August 9, 2020 in Minsk near Stella. Then the girl was wounded by a stun grenade. Maria underwent several operations in Belarus, and subsequently she was transported to the Czech Republic for treatment.
After the start of the war, the girl joined the defenders of Ukraine.
The girl died in the battles near Bakhmut, where she fought as part of the 2nd International Legion. Yesterday she turned 24 years old.
Maria’s friends confirmed her tragic death to Nasha Niva.
