President-elect Donald Trump announced he will move his inauguration ceremony inside the Capitol on Monday as bitter cold is forecast.
It is possible that Trump will take the oath of office inside, and the inaugural speech will be delivered overlooking the National Mall from the Capitol, writes the “In Washington region” Telegram channel.
Washington is bracing for an influx of guests for President-elect Trump’s inauguration and possible protests next week.
City officials said they expect about 250,000 people to buy tickets to Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
Fewer visitors are expected next Monday than Trump’s first inauguration, local and federal officials said. In 2017, they were preparing for the arrival of more than a million people.
In the city, barricades are erected around the Capitol and several entrances to its territory are formed for guests of the ceremony.
According to weather forecasts, it is expected that this will be the coldest inauguration day since Ronald Reagan’s second oath of office in 1985, when the mark dropped to -7 C, writes Politico.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to fill the National Mall at the Capitol to watch Trump take his second oath of office. They are advised to wear warm clothes and even take hand warmers with them.
