The soon-to-be American leader said the low temperatures and gusty winds could pose a threat to ceremony guests and everyone else gathered.
US President-elect Donald Trump changed the location of his own inauguration. It will take place not in the open air, but in the US Congress building. Trump wrote this on the Truth Social network.
The future head of the White House explained that he made this decision because of the abnormally low temperatures expected in Washington on the day he takes office.
“I have directed that the Inaugural Address – including the prayer and other speeches – be held in the rotunda of the United States Capitol, as hosted by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also due to the extreme cold weather,” Trump wrote.
According to him, there will also be high-ranking visitors to the Congress building, and the picture for television viewers will have a good view from there.
As Trump noted, the weather in Washington, with low temperatures and strong winds, could pose a threat to guests at the ceremony and to everyone arriving on the National Mall in the capital, and “also creates dangerous that condition for thousands of law enforcement officers, first responders, police, K9 units and even horses.”
It was previously reported that Trump was upset that flags would be flown at half-staff at his inauguration.
