Tehran is preparing to train the Russian military in the use of these UAVs, U.S. intelligence has established.
United States intelligence has learned that Iran intends to provide Russia with several hundred unmanned aerial vehicles, including combat ones. This was stated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at a briefing on Monday, July 11th.
According to the politician, in Ukraine the Russian Federation has suffered heavy losses in military equipment, and the handling of the occupied territories in the east “is at the expense of maintaining its own weapons.”
In connection with this, as indicated, Moscow turned to Tehran with a request to move new drones here. The Iranian leadership agreed to do so under an expedited procedure.
“Our information also indicates that Iran is preparing to train Russian forces in the use of these UAVs, with preliminary training planned in early July. It is not clear whether Iran has already delivered any of the UAVs. this in Russia, ”Sullivan said.
The adviser added that Tehran provided similar drones to Yemeni Houthi rebels to attack Saudi Arabia before a ceasefire was reached earlier this year.
Recall, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the massive invasion of Russia, the defenders destroyed 676 Russian UAVs of operational-tactical level.
As reported, in 2021, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, said that the Iranian military has drones at its disposal capable of covering seven thousand kilometers without landing.
