Frederiksen explained to parliament what he discussed with the future US president in a 45-minute call yesterday.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said after an emergency meeting of parliament that US President-elect Donald Trump has not backed down on his threat to impose high tariffs if Denmark does not hand over Greenland, reports by Dr.
Frederiksen explained to parliament what he discussed with the future US president in a 45-minute call yesterday.
“The American side has expressed the opinion that, unfortunately, a situation may arise when we are less cooperative with the Americans in the economic field,” the prime minister said.
According to him, Denmark does not want to have a conflict with the United States in the trade sphere, however, the government will continue consultations with business and European partners to find the best solution.
Frederiksen added that the Danish government will continue to discuss the entire situation around Greenland with the Trump administration when Trump officially becomes the President of the United States.
Let’s remember that Trump is not ruling out the use of military force to control Greenland or the Panama Canal, which he has talked about in recent weeks.
