Zelensky made a statement about peacekeepers in Ukraine

President Vladimir Zelensky said Ukraine is discussing sending peacekeepers to partners. At the same time, Kyiv will not consider any security guarantees without the United States. He said this at a briefing with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“Today we are discussing the French initiative to deploy a military contingent we discussed it with Macron (Emmanuel Macron, President of France – ed.), we talked with Poland, with our Baltic partner said the head of state.

According to Zelensky, it is too early to disclose any details on this issue. However, the conversation is carried out exactly with partners who are really ready to take this step, because “Good will” is not enough.

As the president explained, it is not appropriate to talk about the size of the military contingent, because it depends on the format of the security guarantees that Ukraine will receive. The sending of troops itself may be only one part of future guarantees.

“In any case, we do not consider any guarantees without the United States. Therefore, it is too early to talk about the details. We have not yet had a meaningful conversation about security guarantees with the new US administration. ,” Zelensky said.

He added that talks with the new US administration are only expected on security guarantees. After that, it is possible to have an idea about the future security structure of the country.

Earlier, the media wrote that European leaders are discussing the possibility of sending up to 100 thousand troops to Ukraine if a ceasefire is reached or a peace agreement is concluded.
