The US is not sure if Ukraine will allocate the rest of the approved funds

The next candidate of the US President Donald Trump for the post of the head of the Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, did not commit to allocating the rest of the approved funds to help Ukraine, which the current administration does not have time to use. CNN writes this on Wednesday, January 15, with reference to his statement in the US Senate hearings.

Vought, who held an influential position in the Trump administration during his previous term, said he “doesn’t intend to put the president first on foreign policy issues.”

“Vought’s response may indicate that the new administration will use a practice known as” delay, “which allows the American president to refuse to spend money that has already been appropriated by Congress,” the journalists emphasized.

In the past, Congress has passed laws restricting the use of delay practices, including the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. But Vought suggested during the hearing that the law was unconstitutional.

“We will develop a strategy and a strategy on this issue once the administration is seated,” Vought said.

Note that the US Office of Management and Budget, which Vought may lead, is responsible for preparing and implementing the federal budget.
