Ukrzaliznytsia, with the support of the EU, opened an updated border control point for trains on the border with Poland.
All work has been completed to move the train border control point to the Mostyska II station, located near the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Lviv region. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported this today, January 15.
This project was implemented thanks to equal co-financing from the Connecting Europe Facility program and the European Investment Bank.
According to the Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Alexander Pertsovsky, by moving the border inspection point for trains to the Mostyska II station, it will be possible to double the capacity of this direction:
If earlier 6 freight trains could be inspected per day, now up to 15. That is, these are new opportunities for increasing the volume of freight traffic and speeding up passenger trains.
It is noted that before the implementation of this project, border inspection of trains traveling from Ukraine to Poland was carried out on the Mostiska – State Border section, and the average time for control operations for one train was almost two hours.
During the reconstruction of the checkpoint, the following work was carried out:
- four towers were built for inspection of rolling stock by employees of the Ukrainian Border Service;
- two module blocks (one- and two-story) were installed for border control workers;
- four enclosures for service dogs have been equipped;
- a video surveillance system (30 cameras) and Wi-Fi coverage have been installed;
- The overhead network sectioning system has been modernized.
