The Chinese Communist Party poses a unique threat, and the threats emanating from Beijing are the “strongest and most dangerous” in US history, the candidate for Secretary of State said.
US President Donald Trump’s nominee for top US diplomat, Marco Rubio, said that without rapid and significant political change, China will remain the “biggest threat” to the United States. He told lawmakers about it on Wednesday, January 15, during a hearing in the Senate on the confirmation of his candidacy, Florida Politics wrote.
“If we stay on the path we’re on now, then in less than ten years, almost everything important to us in life will depend on whether or not China allows us to have it in the movies we watch,” Rubio said.
He emphasized that this is not acceptable for America.
As for Iran, the secretary of state nominee said that he does not know of any other country in the world where there is a big difference between the people and the government. He called Cuba “fallen” and faced a choice: “open to the world,” experience a “triple fall” or become a fourth world country.
Speaking about US defense power, he emphasized the importance of NATO, but added that the US must decide whether it wants to play a “main defense role” in the Alliance, or whether it aims to be a “pillar ” against aggression directed against NATO countries.
The US Department of Homeland Security has added 37 Chinese companies to the UFLPA list, banning the importation of their products due to forced labor. In total, the list covers 144 businesses.
