Only three months in 2024 saw a positive trend, when more citizens returned to the country than left.
Last year, 443 thousand Ukrainians who left did not return. This is three times more than in 2023, when 134 thousand citizens did not return. This was reported by the Opendatabot service in connection with the State Border Service.
It was noted that citizens crossed the borders of Ukraine 30.11 million times. 2% of those who left did not return – almost half a million citizens. In total, approximately 3 million citizens were unable to return during the three years of widespread war. This is almost the same as in the 11 years before the full invasion, that is, from 2011 to 2021 (3.3 million).
Earlier it was reported that about 70% of Ukrainian refugees plan to stay in Europe. Almost half of Ukrainians work in European countries.
