Trump’s allies and advisers have warned Danish officials about the seriousness of his comments on Greenland.
A group of Republicans in the US House of Representatives has prepared a bill that should give legal authority to buy Greenland to Donald Trump, who has spoken about it more than once. Fox News reported this on Monday, January 13.
In particular, Tennessee Republican Andy Ogles, along with 10 fellow party members, proposed a bill called the Make Greenland Great Again Act.
It stipulates that the current US president can immediately after his inauguration start negotiations with Denmark on the purchase of Greenland, and after concluding an agreement, report it to Congress (as manager of budget funds).
“America’s economic and security interests will no longer be put on the backburner, and House Republicans are ready to help Trump succeed on behalf of the American people,” Ogles explained in an interview with Fox News.
In turn, the US Vice President-elect in the Donald Trump administration, JD Vance, said that the American authorities do not need to use military force in Greenland, but “an agreement can be concluded” regarding the island.
Let’s add that earlier the Prime Minister of Denmark, Matte Frederiksen, responded to Trump’s statements about the possibility of using force to control Greenland with the words “he cannot imagine such a thing.”
Let’s remember that Trump is not ruling out the use of military force to control Greenland or the Panama Canal, which he has talked about in recent weeks.
