Russia stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly attacked the infrastructure of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline with drones. In Hungary, this was called an encroachment on their sovereignty.
The Russian Ministry of Defense wrote that on January 11, the UAV allegedly targeted the Russkaya station in the Krasnodar region, which supplies gas through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, in particular to Hungary.
The Turkish stream goes under the Black Sea, bypassing Ukraine and transporting gas to Turkey, and from there to several European countries.
Ukraine has not officially commented on reports from the Russian military about this attack.
The Russians did not release evidence of the attack.
Putin had four gas tentacles to influence Europe: Nord Stream, Belarus, Ukraine and Türkiye. After stopping transit through Ukraine, only the “pipe” through Turkey remained, said former head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Andrey Kobolev in an interview with UP.
