Los Angeles found itself under a pink blanket due to firefighting aircraft using special fire retardant mixtures to fight large fires.

Firefighting aircraft created an unusual spectacle as they battled the devastating fires in California that burned more than 15,000 hectares, reports BILD.

The streets, buildings, cars and plants of Los Angeles were covered in a pink coating due to special fire retardant mixtures that were sprayed by aircraft over the areas engulfed in flames.

The mixtures contain ammonium phosphates and sulfates, which release carbon dioxide when in contact with fire, helping to prevent the spread of fire.

Despite extensive efforts by firefighters, the military and international partners, the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire are among the most destructive in Los Angeles history.

Los Angeles continues to struggle with the elements, which not only caused great damage, but also changed the face of the city, turning it into a rosy landscape.
