It is impossible to cut only the natural routes for energy supplies, Dmitry Peskov said.
Russia will look for ways to “minimize” the consequences of US sanctions against the country’s oil and gas sector. Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov said this at a briefing on Monday, January 13.
“First of all, measures will be taken and options will be sought to reduce the consequences of these sanctions,” he replied when asked how the recent sanctions would affect Russian energy supplies in Asian markets. and what steps can be taken in response.
According to Peskov, in the modern world “it is impossible to simply cut off natural routes for energy supplies.”
“In one place you block something, in another place an alternative option will appear. A search will be carried out for work options that will minimize the consequences of sanctions,” he added.
The Kremlin representative also expressed hope that Russia will be able to resist the new US sanctions on nuclear energy and that Rosatom will continue its international activities.
“Of course, such decisions cannot lead to a certain destabilization of international energy markets,” concluded Peskov.
As you know, on January 10, the US Treasury announced major sanctions against the Russian oil and gas sector. The new restrictions cover more than 400 individuals and organizations in Russia’s energy sector that directly or indirectly fund the Kremlin’s war machine. On the same day, Great Britain joined the sanctions.
Market analysts believe that the restrictions will affect Russian oil supplies to China and India.
The United States has also imposed sanctions against Rosatom’s top management, including its CEO Alexei Likhachev.
