French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed support for Ukraine during the meeting, confirming their intention to continue supplying arms and providing financial aid. This was stated in the communiqué of the Elysee Palace.
During the meeting, the parties focused on the goals of the international agenda – Ukraine, the Near and Middle East, as well as strengthening relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union.
In addition, issues of deepening the relationship binding France and Britain were discussed in the context of the upcoming Franco-British summit this summer.
The text of the communiqué emphasizes that the situation in Ukraine “dominated during the dialogue.”
“The leaders confirmed their desire to fully coordinate their actions to support Ukraine as long as necessary. They emphasized the importance of continuing the supply of weapons necessary to protect the territories of Ukraine and the guaranteed long-term provision of financial support to Ukraine after 2025. They also emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with security guarantees to protect it from new aggression,” the text said.
