The House of Representatives passed a bill to take action against the International Criminal Court officials who issued the warrant against Netanyahu.
The US House of Representatives on Thursday, January 9, approved a bill that would impose sanctions against officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, CNN reports.
The document provides sanctions against any court action aimed at investigating or prosecuting protected persons of the United States and its allies.
The bill also provides for a ban on property transactions in the United States for people associated with ISS investigations, blocking and canceling their visas.
Next, the bill must go to the Senate for a final vote, which could be an important test for the future US relationship with the ICC and its activities.
Let’s recall that last November the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoavav Gallant. They are accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
The EU says Commonwealth countries are obliged to implement the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as this decision is not merely “political.”
